The month-long campaign, running from October 1 to 31, is led by Medcare Women & Children Hospital and will run across all of Medcare’s hospitals & Medical Centres. Offering a special screening package that includes a consultation with a specialist and the choice of an ultrasound or mammogram screening, Medcare’s mostly women-led facility, Medcare Women & Children Hospital, is encouraging mothers and women to prioritize their health. Boehringer’s nerandomilast meets primary endpoint in pivotal phase-III FIBRONEER™-IPF study

  • Topline data from FIBRONEER™-IPF show that the investigational compound nerandomilast met its primary endpoint, which was the absolute change from baseline in Forced Vital Capacity [mL] at week 52 versus placebo.
  • The FIBRONEER™-IPF trial is the largest trial in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) conducted to date. Patients were recruited in over 330 sites and in over 30 countries.1,5

Dubai, May 10- 11, 2024: The “International Gastroenterology Conference 2024 Frontiers in Gastroenterology Practice: Updates From The BSG International Section” was held in Dubai for the first time in the UAE and Middle East.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ahmed Sultan, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Mediclinic Hospital, Abu Dhabi, and Prof. Laith Al-Rubaiy, Consultant Gastroenterologist in Abu Dhabi and the lead of the British Society of Gastroenterology in the Middle East and North Africa. The gathering aimed to foster collaboration between gastroenterologists in the Gulf and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the British Society of Gastroenterology. More than 350 people attended the conference, including representatives from the British Society of Gastroenterology as well as gastroenterologists, researchers, nurses, and other medical professionals from different healthcare and medical institutions. May 3: 2024: Acute heart attacks, medically termed as Acute ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), pose a major threat to people across all adult age groups, and significantly impacts a family particularly when the victim is in the younger age group. That said, it is also one of the very few life-threatening health conditions which if recognized well in time, and treated promptly and appropriately can help save lives.

SHAKE Heart, a platform set up by Dubai-based Dr Brajesh Mittal, aims at doing just that: raising awareness through conferences and talks of the critical importance of swift recognition and intervention to curb the impact of this silent killer.

In its Eighth edition, the annual SHAKE Heart Conference, this year brought together internationally renowned heart specialists, both in person and virtually, at the prestigious Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai. This one-day event, accredited by CME, fielded experts from across the globe to discuss cutting-edge advancements in cardiac care. The acronym “SHAKE” stands for “Saving Heart Attacks-Key Efforts,” a fitting descriptor for the conference’s mission.

Leading the charge as the architect of this transformative event is Dr. Mittal, Deputy Medical Director and Interventional Cardiologist at Medcare Hospital Dubai. The head of the hospital’s cardiology department, he emphasized the conference’s crucial role in combating heart disease, a malady that affects men and women alike.

Underscoring the evolving landscape of cardiovascular diseases, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Mittal remarked, “though coronary artery disease is the most common, incidences of pulmonary embolisms are also on the rise especially in people in the age group of 30-40 years. Sophisticated, appropriate, and early use of advanced techniques can save precious lives.’’

The UAE Organ Donation and Transplantation Congress 2024 commenced today in Dubai, bringing together more than 8,000 experts and specialists, both in-person and remotely. Organised by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the event will run for four days from January 27 to 30.

Representatives from various health authorities, government entities, and the private healthcare sector are taking part in the event as well as other participants from around the world who will engage in discussions, presentations, and lectures featured throughout the conference.

During the four-day scientific sessions, speakers will delve into various aspects of organ donation and transplantation, including the role of organ donation in mitigating chronic organ failure cases, innovative strategies to address challenges, the outcomes of organ transplantation, and how they contribute to enhancing the quality of life for recipients.
