In the women’s doubles, Vernost Jaguars’ Tamara Icardo and Maria Virginia Riera broke early for a 2-0 lead, but Game Changers Lions’ Marta Talavan and Veronica Virseda fought back to level at 2-2. Game Changers Lions later broke to go 6-5 up but couldn’t serve out the set, as Vernost Jaguars forced a tiebreak. However, Game Changers Lions dominated the tiebreak to clinch a hard-fought 7-6 win.

 The DPL Cricket Tournament Season 4 came to an exciting conclusion with DRO KINGS emerging as the champions for the first time. Led by captain Sajid Hameed and owned by Nikhil, The Kings put up a stellar performance throughout the season. The defending champions, DRO Patriots, had to settle for the runners-up position this time, with captain Sadat Nalakath leading the team owned by Waqas Ali dar.

The star player of the tournament was Ashiq, who not only showcased his batting skills but also excelled in all aspects of the game. Fixtures for Zim Afro T10 Season 2 Announced, Colin Munro’s Durban Wolves and Chis Lynn’s Jo’burg Bangla Tigers to Play Opening Game

 Harare, 11 September, 2024: Preparations for the second season of Zim Afro T10 are well and truly on. The franchises have got their squads in place and the Harare Sports Club is all set for the tournament which begins on September 21 and will finish with the grand finale on 29 September.

Season 2 of the Zim Afro T10 will see the teams battle it out over the course of 9 days for the top prize. Each day will comprise three games, with the first scheduled for 3pm local time and 630pm IST. The second game of the day will be at 515pm local time and 845pm IST, while the third game of the day will see the players take the field at 730pm local time and 11pm IST.

Baseball United Announces Dates for First Full Season and Inaugural Baseball United Cup

 New Dubai-based league will also host a first-ever National Team tournament as part of its yearly event calendar

DUBAI, UAE (Embargoed until 9 am EST/ 5 PM GST on August 1, 2024) – Baseball United, the first professional baseball league focused on the Middle East and South Asia, announced its plans for the league’s first full season as part of an ambitious 12-month calendar of events. In addition to the season, Baseball United will host a professional tournament called the Baseball United Cup, as well as a national team tournament – featuring the official national baseball teams from countries across the Middle East and South Asia – called the Baseball United Arab Classic. All events will be held in Dubai, UAE.

Season One will begin next fall, running from October 23, 2025 to November 23, 2025. The inaugural season will include five Baseball United franchises – the Mumbai CobrasKarachi MonarchsArabia WolvesMid East Falcons, and a new Riyadh-based franchise slated to be announced early next year. Each team will play 12 regular season games, culminating with a United Series best-of-three championship featuring the top two teams. Overall, the league will host 33 games in 32 days, bringing an unprecedented sprint of professional baseball games to Dubai.

Government of Dubai Media Office – 17 October 2023: Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council have announced that registration for the world’s largest free fun run – Dubai Run– is now open. Back for its fifth edition as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), more than 200,000 people are expected to line up for an unforgettable run along the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai on Sunday 26 November – the final weekend of DFC 2023.

Runners and fitness enthusiasts from all walks of life, irrespective of their age or level of ability, can now register and secure their spot in this epic citywide celebration of health, fitness, and community. The free run is presented by Mai Dubai and supported by Sun & Sand Sports.

A record number of 193,000 runners, joggers, and walkers participated in Dubai Run last year –and 2023 is set to be bigger than ever. Participants will have the choice of two distinct routes, both starting on Sheikh Zayed Road. Perfect for families and runners of all levels, the 5-km Downtown Family route will kick off near the Museum of the Future, taking participants past Dubai’s iconic landmarks including Dubai Opera, Dubai Mall, and Burj Khalifa. Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohamed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of Sharjah Women’s Sports, has underscored that the achievements of Emirati women across local and global sporting arenas in 2022-23 reflects the dedication of athletes when backed by a clear vision  and a winning strategy.

The Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s 2022-23 season culminated in 335 medals  in individual and team sports locally and internationally.

Commenting on these achievements, Her Highness said, “Women’s Sports achieve a significant leap in Sharjah, where clubs promote a vibrant culture  and sports institutional regulations guide activities of clubs to bring out the fullest potential of sportswomen. Such achievements can only happen when backed by proper funding and strategies for building successive generations of high-performing athletes.”
