Women entrepreneurs celebrating the Emirati Women’s Day at Senses Center

Empowering Emirati Women Entrepreneurs: Senses Center Celebrates Achievements on Emirati Women’s Day

Dubai, UAE – August 30, 2024 – The Senses Center, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Hashar Al Maktoum hosted a landmark event in honor of Emirati Women’s Day, dedicated to celebrating and empowering Emirati women entrepreneurs. Taking place on Friday, August 30, 2024, this event at the Senses Center offered a platform for inspiration, recognition, and community building among women entrepreneurs in the UAE and the broader Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The event focused on highlighting the remarkable achievements of Emirati women entrepreneurs, whose success serves as a powerful source of inspiration and empowerment for women across the UAE and the MENA region. By achieving significant milestones, Emirati women entrepreneurs continue to demonstrate that ambition, innovation, and determination can lead to extraordinary success, breaking down barriers and challenging traditional norms. Their stories inspire other women to pursue their own entrepreneurial aspirations, fostering a culture of resilience and confidence that drives collective progress.

“The success of Emirati women entrepreneurs has been part of the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who envisions a society where women are empowered and their contributions are integral to the UAE’s success,” said Claudia Pinto, Founder of The Empowering Women and Special Advisor for Philanthropy for H.H. Sheikh Marwan bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

As part of the celebrations of Emirati Women’s Day, which was held on August 28th, today’s platform showcased women’s successes, which honors their hard work and serves as sign of hope and prosperity. By elevating the role of women in entrepreneurship, the Senses Center event encouraged greater participation of women within the entire UAE, ensuring that the momentum for women’s empowerment continues to grow.

Ms. Pinto went on to say that “by highlighting women’s achievements, we celebrate their triumphs and inspire a future generation of women across the UAE and the MENA region to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

Today, Emirati women face several unique challenges in entrepreneurship, including navigating traditional gender roles, accessing funding, and balancing business responsibilities with family commitments. Despite these challenges, women are overcoming obstacles through resilience, networking, and leveraging supportive policies and initiatives.

“Through Senses Center, we are fostering a strong support network, seeking mentorship, and advocating for more inclusive business practices,” said Dr. Nadia Khalil Al Sayegh, Founder and Director General of Senses Center.

The growth of Emirati women-led businesses significantly contributes to the UAE’s economic and social development by driving innovation, creating jobs, and fostering a more diverse and inclusive business environment.

Entrepreneurship plays a crucial role in the broader empowerment and advancement of women by providing them with opportunities to lead, innovate, and contribute economically. It enables women to take control of their careers, build financial independence, and influence change within their communities
According to Dr. Al Sayegh, “these enterprises enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness and contribute to a more balanced economy. Socially, they challenge stereotypes and promote gender equality, strengthening the overall fabric of the community.”

The Emirati Women’s Day event is an extension of Senses Center’s commitment to empowering individuals and fostering an inclusive, supportive community. By celebrating the achievements of Emirati women, the center hopes to contribute to the ongoing progress of gender equality and economic empowerment in the UAE.
Documenting and disseminating these stories can offer valuable insights and inspiration, while structured mentorship and networking initiatives can help young women navigate their entrepreneurial journeys with greater confidence and access to resources, said Dr. Al Sayegh.
Additionally, the Senses Center extends its gratitude to Madusha Muthunayagam, Founder & CEO of Blooming Blossom Flowers & Gift for starting her own venture in delivering the fresh flowers in UAE. She is the florist partner for this event.
